It is here! can you smell it in the air? do you hear it in the wind? see it in vastness of the land? October 2010 has arrived. Its time to get your Witchy on! Merry Blessings!!!!!

Every year at this time brings me great pleasure; the joy takes over my body, my mind and my emotions run wild like a child full of excitement and exuberance. Magic is all around us and for thousands of years it has been believed that during “this time” of what now is known as October in the Gregorian yearly cycle, the line which separates worlds is so thin we can see right thru it, work with it, learn from it. …But what exactly does this mean? what are we learning? what are we seeing? what is really going on?
Usually when these kinds of questions arise I rather search for the answers by going within. Listening to the inner voice is something many of us should practice more often, specially when we search for answers regarding life, God-dess and creation. So what does my inner voice tell me about this time of magic?

It whispers to me words of the season and the coming and going of the elements that help make up the grand design; and the changing of the Earth speaks to me words of courage and of nurturing and transformation. Growth and exploring ones potential is what the ebb and flow of the Seasonal Wheel brings forth. It is a reminder to look in the mirror and know who we are and what we are. Where we come from. What we are made of.
This time of year exclusively allows us to see beyond the curtains of the three-dimensional world and for many of us it is a time of heavy magic and expansion of mind and psychic insight. It is a time of collaboration between worlds, the inwards and outwards.
So ask yourself what does this time mean to you? what do you feel within when you focus on the beauty of your surroundings, on the language of Mother Earth Nature, whether is is cold or hot, stormy or calm, green or red or blue. And act on that inner guidance, follow your instincts; it doesnt have to necessarily be a magical ritual of any kind, it can just be something as simple and pleasant as taking yourself out on a picnic or to the movies or for a walk in a natural place to really appreciate the seasonal change. Connecting with the natural essence of who we are is the route we want to follow and a way to attain this is by letting go of what we think we know and just Be.

I wish this wave of change and transformation brings you closer to the desires of the Heart, and may you feel inspired to explore your potential. In the Greatest Degree of Love. Happy Wishes & Merry Times!! Sat Nam

Autumnal Equinox 2010

The Sun, on its final day in Virgo on September 21, decides to go out with a real fanfare of trumpets as is opposes expansive Jupiter and then sparkling, excitable Uranus in Pisces. An opposition usually produces a tension between the two ends so the hard-working Virgo Sun will not quite know what to do with lazy, over hopeful Jupiter, which usually expects results effortlessly. But, add Uranus into the mix and the energy will add adrenaline and speed us all along.

There should be more sudden and positive surprises coming your way, sprinkled over the past couple of days since the Jupiter Uranus conjunction on September 18-19. With the morale boost this brings, you’ll be eager to take a few small risks, to step out into the unknown and try to make a real difference to your life. This isn’t the time to hang onto security or the status quo. If you’ve been holding yourself back because of uncertainty, timidity, lethargy or even hopelessness, now is the right time to take a leap forward. Be bold!

On September 23, at 3:09 AM UTC (September 22, 11:09 PM EDT, 8:09 PM PDT), the Sun moves into Libra for four weeks ushering in the Autumnal Equinox of 2010. The year is nearing the end. It is autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, and spring approaches in the Southern Hemisphere. The days and nights are of almost equal length. The Libra Ingress (point of entry of Sun into Libra) was always considered to be the most important, setting a tone for the coming twelve months.

The Sun’s sojourn in Libra will bring a sociable, co-operative, fair minded mood to proceedings. Relationships of all varieties are Libra’s main focus. As a sign it is happiest one-to-one, always thinking of the other and trying to calm down any aggravations. But it is also well adapted to larger groupings of people where Libra tries to instill a mood of balance, equilibrium and good manners.

The new Libra Sun, however, immediately moves into an opposition to the Aries Moon setting the scene for a Full Moon on September 23. A Full Moon denotes a time of opposites with the nurturing energy of the Moon at odds with the active energy of the Sun — a time to seek balance, but also a time of culmination, a time for things to reach fullness, bring plans and a project together — a time of romance! Duty Calls!

As The Sun Moves Into Virgo

On August 23, the Sun will move out of royal, radiant, outgoing Leo into sensible, earthy, hard-working Virgo for four weeks. In the Western Hemisphere this is the time of the harvest, reaping the gifts of summer. The astrological glyph for Virgo is a goddess holding the sheaf of corn which will produce food for the time ahead.

Virgo has a reputation for being nit-picky and critical but this meticulous trait is hugely useful when you are separating the wheat from the chaff, storing up the apples, and bringing in the goodness of the year and storing it for winter.

The cosmos and the season demand that this is the time to roll up your sleeves and get cracking. Duty calls and there will be rewards for service, effort and attention to detail. Virgo is not a sign that blows its own trumpet or stands on its dignity. It prefers being understated and just getting on with the job at hand. Taking pride in what you do for its own sake without expectation of fame, success or glory is what works best at this time of year.

On August 24, the new Virgo Sun is opposite or across the zodiac from the Pisces Moon and we have what is known as the Harvest Moon, Corn Moon or Barley Moon. In American Indian folklore this full moon marked the right time to start the harvest and farmers could work late into the night by the light of this Moon which rises early and is very bright.

Full Moons signify a time of culmination, a time to bring plans and a project together. It is also a time of romance, fertilization, relationships, emotions and feelings. Emotions tend to run high during these times and as always, this is a time to find a balance between opposites. On one side, there is Virgo’s earthy common sense energy and on the other side is Pisces’ urge to find spiritual or artistic nourishment. “Man cannot live by bread alone” really is the motto of this Full Moon. There should be time for work and time for inner solace; time to give to others and as well as yourself.

From The Grape Vine

vineroad

Celtic Tree Month of Vine begins Thursday September, 2, 2010

Vine corresponds to the Ogham letter muin (muhn) and heralds the time of harvest and completion.
Grapes, though not native to the Celtic regions, became embraced as the most important ingredient in wine-making, and are associated with the smiling, leafy Green Man. The fruits of the vine are integral to celebrations worldwide, and as our crops mature, why not celebrate your prosperity during the harvest season?
grapevine
Pour a glass of wine, or grape juice, and place it within a small grapevine wreath found at a craft store (or in Nature, if its available to you). Light any candle the color of the autumn leaves. List all the good things you’ve harvested in your life this year. When you are done with this celebration, pour the remaining wine on the earth as an offering of thanks.
Raise your glass and before you sip, repeat the following charm:

I raise my glass and make a toast,
The vine month brings a harvest to boast,
My gratefulness for the year’s abundance,
I give my thanks with greatest reverence.”

Summer Solstice, Honoring the Fire Lord

The Summer Solstice is a combination of joyous celebration and the realization that the wheel has reached a pinnacle and is now turning toward the dark again. It’s a time to gather loved ones close and to celebrate community. If covens have hived off during the year, the Summer Solstice is the time for them all to gather with the original coven.
Participating in a large celebration is one of the joys of the Summer Solstice. Whether its a group of covens reconnecting, a family reunion, or a neighborhood block party, the spirit of the community is paramount. Sharing food, experiences, and games contributes to bonds. Making a tub of potato salad or batch of brownies enhances the festivity of solstice.
And yet, a few quiet moments in a darkened room with a lit candle, honoring the fact that after today, the wheel has turned and the light will fractionally shorten everyday, will give you a sense of peace. It is a time for inner connection as well, because the inner and outer communities are interwoven. That can be represented with the brightly colored woven placemats so popular during this season! by Cerridwen Iris Shea, Llewellyn Worldwide

Numerology Forecast for May 2010

By Nam Hari Kaur Khalsa

3homaynumerology

The month of May brings relief in the area of personal latitude and advancement. The deadlock of doldrums that the planet has been in throughout the previous two months is now clearing, and a literal spring cleaning of house and self is in order. We need to physically exert ourselves, as number 5 (May) represents the physical body and exercise. What would be especially inspiring is to plan a weekend adventure someplace near or far, as 5 is the domain of travel and exploration. We want to feel free at this time, our sense of personal power needs a jump start to create new momentum so we may feel inspired again about ourselves and our sense of possibilities in life. The motto, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained” is an appropriate touchstone to help motivate our psyche towards a more visionary and expanded horizon of life.

Alliances play a very important part of how well our new found endeavors will turn out. May is the final test of our emotional fortitude, to see if we have truly learned the hard fought lessons of last year regarding boundaries and personal standards. You are the captain of your own ship, so be careful to check for sandbars and shallow reefs before getting too close to what may be Fantasy Island. Discretion is the better part of valor, and whatever is truly meant to be on a destiny level, there will be a safe and secure course of action to achieve it. We will also need to be more selective of our crew members, and the cargo they want to bring along. A sea chest with shiny brass hinges and ornate carvings on the exterior may well turn out to be a Pandora’s box of surprises if we neglect to use our meditative mind to discern the dimensions of the situation. As Yogi Bhajan has said, “Wisdom is a process of self involvement to guide our own self fearlessly and flawlessly. You have to develop that process.”

Now with our house in order and our ship of opportunity and adventure resting more lightly on the water, let’s look at how to polish things up a bit! One of the priceless gems of our 3HO® legacy is the yoga manual Praana, Praanee, Praanayam. It contains scores of meditations which have breathing techniques in each exercise. Life needs energy, and consciously developing the breath and breathing capacity gives us a unique type of high octane fuel on which we may run our life. Yogi Bhajan has stated, “Anything which is rhythmic is happy.” When we strengthen the pulse and frequency of our own existence, anything is possible. These times require a rhythmic intunement so that we may penetrate through obstacles to our own higher ground. A simple technique you can use daily is to sit in a relaxed posture with the eyes closed, and begin inhaling through the nose in 8 equal strokes, or “sniffs,” and then exhale through the nose in one long slow breath. Practicing this for 11 minutes a day in the evening will tune and recalibrate your psyche to an even flow and equilibrium. This is called the “Eight Stroke Breath for Energy and Stress Relief” and it is illustrated on page 165 of the previously mentioned manual.

Bringing this technology full circle, the Base number for the month of May is 8, and eight represents issues of power, authority, and fearlessness. With a strong foundation of your own spirit and vitality, you will not fall prey to irrational fear, or feel overpowered by someone else’s aggressive nature. Meditation is a sophisticated form of prayer, and when we develop our personal power through prayer, we don’t end up as the prey. In the folk/rock classic song, “Teach Your Children” by Crosby, Stills and Nash, there is a beautiful verse which says, “You who are on the road, must have a code, that you can live by.” We all need a code, whether it be a code of conduct, code of honor, or code for our soul’s journey to live by. Our personal code, supported by the energy we create for ourselves, creates the cutting edge of caliber and consciousness by which we may live our most excellent life.

Pluto Sextile Sun

Use Your Charm to Get What You Want!

On February 23, the Sun, drifting through seductive and dreamy Pisces, forms a sextile to powerfully persuasive Pluto. While the word ‘sextile’ may sound enticing, all it means is that Pluto will be at a 60-degree angle to the Sun, and that its intense magnetism will boost the Pisces Sun in a way that brings real results. Now is the time to use your good judgment and personal power wisely to get the maximum advantage of these favorable conditions!

Have you been wrestling with dilemmas and tensions since late December? This was probably the influence of Pluto being conjunct to (or within) the same degree as the Sun. Pluto’s current activity suggests this is the time to get it all together! You are now in control … but not in an aggressive or obvious manner. You’ve learned a few lessons and you will not be caught in the same way as before. Pluto is too subtle for that. Now is the time to smile sweetly, knowing you can pull all the right strings and make everyone dance to your tune. Whether it be a crisis at work or a romantic situation, you will know how to use your personal power and get things done. This special configuration of the planets gives your inner core all the strength it needs.

The Festival of Lights of 2010

Imbolc Comments

~Magickal Graphics~

“See this world as a free world, and see everyone in it as trying—through their individual experiences—to find their way back to that calling, back to that Source Energy. And even though there are billions of them going about it in a way that is different than you would choose, there’s no right or wrong way. In other words, bless them all, and get on with the only thing you have any power about, which is opening or closing your vortex to your natural state of Well-Being.”

Merry Imbolc!

Today light all your candles, open your curtains and let the natural sunlight in, welcome the light into our life by practicing gratitude for the bounties received continuously and abundantly. Sing, dance, laugh, read poetry, make up your own and let the natural self from within you emerge and feast in life!

CLICK HERE for more information about the beautiful celebration of Imbolc, the Festival of Lights

Imbolc is the time when things stir beneath the surface. It is the time of infinite possibilities for the new cycle of life and creativity, when energies are still gathering in the astral, preparing to manifest. The celebration is sacred to Brigid, goddess of smithcraft, poetry, and healing. Take time to concentrate on what you wish to manifest in the coming year. What needs craftwork applied to it, on any level? Can you sing or write it ito existence? Does any healing need to happen in your life?
Decorate your altar in red and white. Place a bowl of white roses in the center, flanked by red candles. Write a poem dedicated to Brigid. Don’t worry , it doesn’t need to rhyme–it only needs to be from the heart! Take a specially painted and prepared pot of earth and place several seeds in it. Let each seed represent something you wish to manifest. Honor and nurture these seedlings. Take a glass bowl filled with clean water and a handful of small, clear crystals. Name each crystal for something in your life that needs to be healed and drop them one by one into the bowl. As each healing occurs, remove that crystal. When the bowl is empty, pour away the water. –Cerridwen Iris Shea

Being PRESENT during the Holiday Season

tree

This is a beautiful offering written by Corrina Steward, Green Monkey Guest Blogger. As soon as I read it I couldn’t wait to feature it here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, it’s the perfect advice for the holiday season.. Cheers!

The holiday season is one of the best times to grow your spiritual muscles. Whether it’s attending holiday parties or venturing into crowded malls, you will be challenged to find peace in the chaos. This holiday season I’ve decided that I will embrace the chaos through seven simple practices that will keep me PRESENT.

I’ve practiced yoga for nearly 10 years. One of the greatest benefits I receive from my yoga practice is the awareness of my body, mind and spirit. I know when I’m no longer living from my “center,” that grounded place where all of my energy is available for life, it can be felt as tightness in my neck or hyperactivity in my mind.

These are my indicators that I’m living in the danger zone: In the danger zone, we become aggressive toward others or feel victim to (or simply drained by) all of our obligations. This is the usual state of being for people during the holidays, which explains the crazed stampeding into stores and the anxiety over our to-do lists.

I think we could all use a PRESENT to get us through the holidays and to leave the world in better shape than it was before the holidays. Try these spiritual exercises whenever you feel like you are about to enter the danger zone.

Peace. Make peace with whatever you are struggling with. In the end, if it’s bothering you that much, peace is always the best option. Do you really need to get that one extra gift?

Reflect. When you feel yourself getting caught up in the chaos of the season, take a moment to reflect on your true values. What is the true spirit of the holidays for you? Are you living it?

Energy. How we experience the holidays often comes down to the quality of our energy. If we are feeling drained, we are simply not going to be able to enjoy things as much as we could. Make sure to rest and do pleasurable activities that build your energy.

Savor. Savor the moments. What will you remember about this holiday season? Seek out joyful, spirit-filled experiences.

Enthusiasm. Spend your time on activities that you truly feel enthusiastic about. Just because you’ve done something the same way every year doesn’t mean you have to again this year.

Nature. Be in nature. It will bring you back to reality and into a space where time slows down.

Trust. Trust that you will get through the holidays remembering the joyful moments and forgetting the challenging ones. Trust that you will make someone happy with your contributions and the things you did not do will not matter.

Lastly, be PRESENT. Experience the moment you are in rather than thinking about the next. Not only will you feel calmer, others will notice your lightness of being. Spreading the light is the best present you could give to yourself and the world.
