PreNatal Reiki: Is Reiki Safe For Everyone?

Is Reiki safe for everyone, including pregnant women, children, even animals?
Yes, Reiki is safe and good for everyone.

For Mommy & Baby

It is safe for pregnant women and their babies, deepening the loving connection and accentuating their bond in a gentle way. Many midwives become Reiki Practitioners and treat pregnant women throughout their pregnancy not only to reinforce their health but also to maintain a natural feeling of relaxation as baby grows and develops. A woman’s body during pregnancy is perpetually in “creation mode” until baby is ready for birth. Because mommies-to-be steadily undergo through a multitude of internal changes as baby grows inside belly, and hormonal activity is at an all-time high constantly, receiving Reiki helps with a soothing feeling of peace and balance. Countless women who want a natural birth without the use of epidurals can very much benefit from Reiki Healing, and based on personal experience Reiki helps ease pain and discomfort naturally during pregnancy, labor and at the time of birth. Women who are pregnant and not ready to give birth yet can also benefit from Reiki treatments and it will help make sure that the body-temple is healthy and working properly and that the baby is healthy. A moment of Reiki is a really great non-invasive way to receive treatment. A woman’s body-temple changes during pregnancy and with Reiki energy is a way she can make sure her body and energy are well balanced, and that she has everything she needs and that nothing will go wrong. Personally I believe its an excellent thing for pregnant women to do.

Once baby arrives you hear all about infant massage for babies. This offers great techniques to help baby feel delicious in every way, and adding Reiki is extremely beneficial because there is no pressure applied to baby’s body-temple and teaches mommy, or who ever performs the infant massage, to apply gentle touch on baby. The chances of hurting baby are none. Reiki is so soothing and gentle it may be done while baby sleeps, while mommy is holding her child, even while nursing. It is something so gentle and because it is just a natural flow of healing, it works really well for newborn babies. If you live a natural lifestyle and choose not to medicate baby, or even if you do, some medicines cannot be given to children under a certain age and Reiki is a great way to relieve and heal young children and babies without worrying about the side effects of synthetic chemical medicines and without worrying about whether they are the right age or about proper dosage. Reiki is the most recommended natural healing treatment for pregnant mommies and babies.

For Children

Because of its subtle ways and highly soothing process, Reiki is a perfect way to introduce natural healing to children. As our little young ones begin to crawl and then walk they are super curious about basically everything the world is and has 🙂 and with this their curiosity grows bringing many trips and falls along the way. Scrapes, cuts, skin irritations and bruises, cold/flu, migraines, anxiety, digestive issues, even social stress and behavioral issues can be treated with the blessing of a Reiki session.

For Everyone

Reiki is non-invasive and compliments all forms of healing. It enhances the body’s natural ability to repair itself and aligns the person to their Highest State of Well-Being, no matter the age. It provides an extraordinary sense of relief from pain, while healing from surgery or any condition. Its an incredible aid for treating mental illness, when grieving or when enduring a highly stressful moment.

When it comes to animals, Reiki works miracles. Same goes with plants and basically every living Being.

Reiki Sea Salt Bath

by Roland Hasler

I am a psychologist-psychotherapist specialized in psychological dependency and live in Geneva, Switzerland.

I have been working with a healing bath using the Reiki symbols. This bath is perfect to center yourself, especially when under stress or pressure from others or from situations. It only takes 15 minutes to bring peace and quietness within yourself. It works for anxiety, depression, panic attack and other psychological complaints including psychological dependency, such as: drug-dependency and affective dependency (co-dependency).

Why does this Work?
The sea salt has the power to cleanse and purify. The Reiki symbols reinforcing this and raise the vibration as well as adding powerful healing energy. The Reiki energy also is attracted to the salt and thus this magnifies its power. The bath will harmonize your chakras and aura and will also cut you off from the source of any negative energy. The bath will also disconnect you from dependency and allow you to be connected to your own power and sense of self. This will make it much easier for you to understand the source of any issues or problems you are dealing with and help you to connect with the insight needed for you to heal. Like a spectator watching a movie of his/her own life, you’ll come out of the bath with more self-confidence and awareness of yourself.

First take a quick shower without using soap. Then fill the bath tub with water. As the tub is filling, sit in the tub and add two kilos (4-5 lbs.) of sea salt (you must use the large grained sea salt and not the fine, it doesn’t matter where it comes from, you can use the cheapest one as long it is sea salt!), sit in the bath tub until it is full (lukewarm water is fine). As the bath tub is filling, give yourself a light massage with the salty water all over the body and plunge your head under the water for a few seconds. When the bath is full stop the water and draw the Reiki symbols on top of the water as follows:

You must draw the symbols on top of the water by lightly touching the water and for each symbol say the appropriate mantra (name of the symbol) three times: master, power, Iava (Karuna), Shanti (Karuna), emotional/mental. At the end, use the power symbol again.

If you do not have the master or Karuna symbols, just use the symbols you know and it will work just fine.

Then relax and enjoy the bath for about 15 minutes (give yourself more massage and put your head under the water a few more times).

After 15 minutes, drain the water and take a shower without any soap, dry yourself and put on clean clothes.

You can take this bath at any time of the day.

Science Measures the Human Energy Field

Energy is a theme that permeates many areas of complementary health care, including Reiki. For historic and emotional reasons, two key words have not been mentionable in polite academic research society: “energy” and “touch.” Hence it is not surprising that Reiki therapy has been neglected by mainstream biomedical science.

This picture is changing rapidly because of exciting research from around the world. The tale of how concepts of “healing energy” have swung from suspicion and ridicule to respectability is one of the most fascinating and clinically significant stories that can be told.

As in many other areas of investigation, what we were absolutely certain about 20 years ago has changed dramatically. For example, in a few decades scientists have gone from a conviction that there is no such thing as an energy field around the human body, to an absolute certainty that it exists. Moreover, we have begun to understand the roles of energy fields in health and disease. Most people are simply not aware of this research, and persist in the attitude that there is no logical basis for energy healing.

The main reason for the change in outlook is that sensitive instruments have been developed that can detect the minute energy fields around the human body. Of particular importance is the SQUID magnetometer (1) which is capable of detecting tiny biomagnetic fields associated with physiological activities in the body. (Figure 1) This is the same field that sensitive individuals have been describing for thousands of years, but that scientists have ignored because there was no objective way to measure it.

squid-brainwaves

To summarize the discoveries that have been made, the editors of a new international journal commissioned a review of the concept of “healing energy” (2). While we have been researching this topic for some 15 years, the preparation of an in-depth review led to a thorough reexamination of the subject, with some unexpected conclusions.

For the most part, key discoveries are not being made by scientists studying methods such as Reiki, TT and HT. Instead, traditional scientists, following customary logic and scientific methods, have begun to clarify the roles of various kinds of energy in the healing process. Hence the picture that is emerging has the same scientific foundations that underlie modern clinical medicine. For details, see our published articles (3).

The human energy field.

It has long been known that activities of cells and tissues generate electrical fields that can be detected on the skin surface. But the laws of physics demand that any electrical current generates a corresponding magnetic field in the surrounding space. Since these fields were too tiny to detect, biologists assumed they could have no physiological significance.

This picture began to change in 1963. Gerhard Baule and Richard McFee of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY detected the biomagnetic field projected from the human heart. They used two coils, each with 2 million turns of wire, connected to a sensitive amplifier.

In 1970, David Cohen of MIT, using a SQUID magnetometer, confirmed the heart measurements. By 1972, Cohen had improved the sensitivity of his instrument, enabling him to measure magnetic fields around the head produced by brain activities.

Subsequently, it has been discovered that all tissues and organs produce specific magnetic pulsations, which have come to be known as biomagnetic fields. The traditional electrical recordings, such as the electrocardiogram and electroencephalogram, are now being complemented by biomagnetic recordings, called magnetocardiograms and magnetoencephalograms. For various reasons, mapping the magnetic fields in the space around the body often provides a more accurate indication of physiology and pathology than traditional electrical measurements.

Pathology alters the biomagnetic field

In the 1920’s and 1930’s, a distinguished researcher at Yale University School of Medicine, Harold Saxon Burr, suggested that diseases could be detected in the energy field of the body before physical symptoms appear. Moreover, Burr was convinced that diseases could be prevented by altering the energy field.

These concepts were ahead of their time, but are now being confirmed in medical research laboratories around the world. Scientists are using SQUID instruments to map the ways diseases alter biomagnetic fields around the body. Others are applying pulsating magnetic fields to stimulate healing. Again, sensitive individuals have been describing these phenomena for a long time, but there was no logical explanation of how it could happen.

Projection of energy from the hands of healers.

In the early 1980’s, Dr. John Zimmerman began a series of important studies on therapeutic touch, using a SQUID magnetometer at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Zimmerman discovered that a huge pulsating biomagnetic field emanated from the hands of a TT practitioner. The frequency of the pulsations is not steady, but “sweeps” up and down, from 0.3 to 30 Hz (cycles per second), with most of the activity in the range of 7-8 Hz (Figure 2). The biomagnetic pulsations from the hands are in the same frequency range as brain waves and scientific studies of the frequencies necessary for healing indicate that they naturally sweep back and forth through the full range of therapeutic frequencies, thus being able to stimulate healing in any part of the body.

squid-healingfreq

Confirmation of Zimmerman’s findings came in 1992, when Seto and colleagues, in Japan, studied practitioners of various martial arts and other healing methods. The “Qi emission” from the hands is so strong that they can be detected with a simple magnetometer consisting of two coils, of 80,000 turns of wire. Since then, a number of studies of QiGong practitioners have extended these investigations to the sound, light, and thermal fields emitted by healers. What is particularly interesting is that the pulsation frequency varies from moment to moment. Moreover, medical researchers developing pulsating magnetic field therapies are finding that these same frequencies are effective for ‘ jump starting’ healing in a variety of soft and hard tissues, even in patients unhealed for as long as 40 years. Specific frequencies stimulate the growth of nerves, bones, skin, capillaries, and ligaments. Of course Reiki practitioners and their patients have daily experiences of the healing process being “jump started,” and academic medicine is now beginning to accept this therapy as logical and beneficial because of these new scientific findings. In Figure 2 we have bracketed portions of the signal that correspond to the frequencies used in medical devices that stimulate the healing of particular tissues. Individual differences in energy projection and detection.

To study the projection of energy from the hands of therapists, scientists must first recognize that there are huge individual differences between people. Repeated practice of various techniques can enhance the effect.

There are logical neurophysiological and biophysical explanations for the roles of practice and intention. [Editors note: It would be interesting to use these detection techniques to measure the effect of a Reiki attunement on the strength and frequency of biomagnetic energies coming from the hands and also to measure how theraputic frequencies may change when treating various conditions in the body.]

It is not widely understood that “brain waves” are not confined to the brain, but actually spread throughout the body via the perineural system, the connective tissue sheathes surrounding all of the nerves. Dr. Robert O. Becker has described how this system, more than any other, regulates injury repair processes throughout the body. Hence the entire nervous system acts as an “antenna” for projecting the biomagnetic pulsations that begin in the brain, specifically in the thalamus.

Moreover, waves that begin as relatively weak pulsations in the brain appear to gather strength as they flow along the peripheral nerves and into the hands. The mechanism of this amplification probably involves the perineural system and the other connective tissue systems, such as the fascia that are intimately associated with it.

Conclusion

In this brief summary, I have shown how some of the experiences of energy therapists have a basis in biology and physics. After centuries of neglect, energetic therapies can take their appropriate place in clinical medicine. The great discoveries of biologists and of sensitive bodyworkers are being integrated to give us a deeper understanding of life, disease, and healing. Science cannot take away the ultimate mystery of life, nor can it detract from the spiritual componet of healing. We believe that research on the energy therapies can lead to much a more complete understanding of life, desease, and healing.

kirlian - before healing

Reiki & Kirlian Photography

Reiki is not something magical. The basic principle on how Reiki energy heals is very similar to how healing works in acupuncture. We know that every living being has energy within and around the body to be alive. This energy is called Chi (vital energy) and it is vital for the physical body to exist. The physical body usually has problems because the energy does not flow properly. By stimulating the energy to flow properly as it is supposed to, the natural ability of the body to heal itself will be able to function again, and the physical body will recover. Reiki healing is able not only to stimulate the energy to flow properly but also to cleanse the energy within and around the body to speed up the healing process. In the Kirlian photos(*) below, you can see the energy around the fingertip of a patient before and after Reiki healing.

Reiki Can Never Cause Harm

Because Reiki is guided by God Consciousness, it can never do harm. It is both powerful and gentle. It always knows what each “receiver” needs and will adjust itself to create the appropriate effect. There is no need to ever be concerned whether or not to give Reiki, as it is always helpful. In its long history of use it has played a primordial part in the aid and healing in virtually every known illness, dis-ease and injury, such as heart disease, cancer, multiple sclerosis, also skin problems, cuts, bruises, broken bones, headaches, flu, sore throat, fatigue, insomnia and impotence.
Becaused Reiki energy is a channeled healing, from Divine-God, after a session one’s left surrounded by loving feelings of harmony, well-being and overall joy.
Reiki can be complimentary, as it works harmoniously with all other types of treatments. It is known to act to reduce negative side effects, for example, from strong medication, chemotherapy and surgery. Reiki quickens healing time, and reduces or eliminates pain. Reduces stress and increases creative awareness.
Reiki has also been used in partnership during psychotherapy treatments and the healing of emotional trauma, among others. Great for memory improving and to increase one’s self-esteem.
Furthermore, Reiki performs splendidly in spiritual healing, recharging one’s energy field, leaving the person feeling whole and refreshed.

Reiki For Fertility

Care for pregnancy
The concept of motherhood is extolled in many cultures. It is sanctified and women are expected to feel fulfilled by it. Yet women have an ambiguous attitude towards it. Some look forward to it with joy. Others would rather not have a baby as they feel it would ruin their figure or they are convinced that they would die during delivery.
The more aggressive women would simply dismiss it as unwanted responsibility. The attitude would make all the difference to the way in which the woman handles her womanhood and pregnancy. The attitude would also impact the unborn child in more ways than one.
Reiki clinics are flooded with women who have physical and psychological problems related to pregnancy. Reiki alleviates many of the symptoms of pregnancy such as morning sickness, excessive tiredness and backache. Reiki helps them adjust to the changes in their body and gives them a positive attitude towards the birth of the child. It emotionally supports the mother and makes her aware of the meaning of motherhood. It also helps the fetus grow normally and often delivery becomes easy for those who have had Reiki just before or during the course of delivery. Reiki improves the bond between the mother and child.
Fathers who wish to support their wives through the pregnancy and develop a bond with the unborn child should consider taking a course in Reiki. They can assist the mother nurture the fetus and ensure its psychological and physical well being by giving Reiki to their wives during pregnancy and delivery. Many fathers who have participated in this exercise have excitedly reported that they can actually feel the fetus move towards the energy when Reiki is given. They have also reported that their bonding with the child is better and they feel that they have contributed to the nurturing of the child in the womb.

Case Study
Ms.R did not want to have a baby. She became pregnant by accident and her pregnancy was diagnosed too late to do anything about it. The Doctors refused to abort the fetus as the pregnancy had gone beyond a six week period and her husband was opposed to the idea and refused consent. She therefore, developed a lot of negativity towards the child. She insisted that “the thing” had taken over her body and was playing havoc with it. “The thing” was constantly moving around and making her uncomfortable, queasy and the laughing stock of all her friends. She refused to go out of the house till she could get “the thing” out of her body and be free of its influence! She would scream at her husband and hold him responsible for the predicament she finds herself in. In the extreme she would threaten to kill “the thing” by piercing her abdomen with a sharp instrument.
Her husband was very worried and desperate. He did not know how to convince her that the baby was a blessing and would bring joy into their lives. He wanted the child and was afraid for his wife. He tried talking to her, convincing her of his love and that the child would bring them closer. She refused to listen. Her mother tried talking her out of her skulks to no avail. She hated the baby and refused to regard it with any kind of open mindedness. When Mr.R had finally given up hope of improving the situation he heard about Reiki from some of his colleagues and decided to try it. However, he was not very sure that he would be able to get his wife to visit the clinic.
One day he dropped in after office hours for a casual chat with me. He wanted to know how Reiki worked and whether we were certain it would work for his wife. Fortunately, there was another pregnant mother at the clinic who had come in with a similar problem and had immensely benefited from the treatment. She volunteered information on how it helped her through the most difficult period of her pregnancy. Mr.R was very hopeful at the end of the discussion and promised to persuade his wife to undertake treatment.
A week later, Mr and Ms R visited the clinic together. It was obvious from the expression on Ms R’s face that she was a reluctant visitor. She was about five months pregnant at that time and very weak and irritable. She was pale and had dark circles under her eyes and there were worry lines cracking up her forehead and corners of her eyes. She held herself very awkwardly and gave an impression that she was trying to pull in her stomach and hide her pregnancy. Her feet were swollen, but she had squeezed them into an over tight shoe in defiance of the swelling. On the whole she appeared uncomfortable, sick and dispirited. I felt that the usual pep talk may not help in her case.
As I was wondering about alternate approaches, Mr.R volunteered “Madam my wife has decided that she will take up your offer and help you with your patients in this clinic. She says she can type up your cases and generally potter around for a week and see how she likes it.” He accompanied this with a wink. I took up his cue and welcomed her and told her how hard pressed we were for help. We would be very grateful to her for whatever help she can extend. The expression in Ms.R’s face lightened slightly. She said a little diffidently, “I thought he was bringing me to some kind of clinic for a checkup. He keeps doing that all the time these days. I am fed up with Doctors and clinics. I don’t mind helping you. It will keep my mind off this “horrible thing” that is destroying my life.” Mr.R looked very distressed. I quickly told him “ Please do leave Jane with us. We will have plenty of work for her. You can pick her up on your way from work. We will take care of her.”
Ms.R spent the next few days with us. Her husband would drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the evening. Initially, she was very diffident with us. As we continued to be friendly and cheerful, she relaxed and accepted us as her friends. We never spoke to her about her reaction to the pregnancy or her attitude to life. We appeared to accept her as she was. This made her feel at home. We gave her the task of gathering basic bio data from the patients and categorizing them according to the problems. We told her to sit in the visitor’s room and chat with the patients who came in so that we could get information about the psychological make up of the patient. She enthusiastically took up the task of questioning the patients with a predefined set of questions. She faithfully recorded their replies and sometimes even identified factors that could be the cause of some particular reaction on the part of the patient.
As the promised week slipped into the next, we could see that she was getting interested in all that we were doing. She asked us if she could continue coming. We expressed our gratitude and told her how helpful she was. She was very pleased and informed her husband that she liked the work and would continue to come for some time.
As the days passed her curiosity got the better of her and she asked some of the attendants on what Reiki was all about and even wondered what it felt like to have Reiki done to you. She began questioning the patients as they left the clinic on their experience with Reiki. At the end of the second week she came to me with a request that she would like Reiki done to her—just to see what it felt like. I agreed and immediately started the treatment. At the end of the session, she was very quiet. When she got ready to leave, I asked her curiously what she thought of Reiki. She said honestly “It was very nice. I feel very energized but confused”. “Confused? Why?” I asked. She thought for a while and replied “I don’t know. I feel peaceful and more positive about life. I was so depressed about my pregnancy and could not think that life would ever be the same again. Now I am not so sure. It will not be the same I know, but I feel ready to accept the change. It is all very strange. Does Reiki do that to you?” So I explained “Reiki is a positive energy. It does help you getter a better perspective on life and a greater grip on situations. I am glad you enjoyed it. Would you like to continue this treatment for some time? It will help you over the physical problems of pregnancy.” She said she needed time to think about it.
The next day when she came in, she said she would like to try the treatment for some time and see how it impacts her physically. We agreed and registered a slot for her on the busy schedule of the day. What followed is history. Her attitude to her pregnancy gradually underwent change. The child ceased to be “the thing” and became “My baby”. She enjoyed the sensation of the baby moving within her. She even began looking forward to the day when the child would be born and she would hold it in her arms. At the end of the month she was thinking up names for her baby. The rest of the pregnancy was spent calling him (she was sure it was a boy) Mark. He soon acquired an identity in her life and she would greet her husband joyfully every evening with reports on what Mark had done to her today. Mr R was overjoyed at the change Reiki had brought into their lives. He could not thank us enough. He enrolled himself and his wife for the first degree and spent the rest of her pregnancy sharing wonderful “Reiki moments together”. Ms.R comes to the clinic often to help us out. Mark now two years old, accompanies her sometimes and is completely spoilt by everyone at the clinic and is given complete license to do what he pleases. We all feel a bond with the child who acquired an identity and personality in the clinic. Ms R and her husband are part of our team and will rush over to the clinic whenever we need additional hands.
Reiki is a gentle energy that brings about transformation of attitudes and even the personality of an individual. Reiki provides the required stimulus to access a different level of awareness and the patient no longer experiences the discomfort and attitudes of the former level of awareness.

Warmest regards,

–Peter Tremayne

Uteral Malignancy Healed
My workmate Denise was diagnosed with a growth in her uterus. They took blood samples, biopsies, and ultrasounds. They showed a malignancy. She is just twenty-one and has five-year-old twin daughters and is one of the hardest workers I have seen, completing four certificates in tourism and a diploma in youth counseling in the years since having her daughters. She also works full time. I gave her two short treatments of Reiki hands-on and also each night I sent her Reiki. I also asked friends to pray for her and told them we had a month to heal her before the surgery to remove the growth. I also asked Archangel Raphael to heal her.
The surgery was scheduled for this week and she had to go in for a pre-op consultation. They couldn’t find the lump. They redid all the tests and searched and they found a little bit of scar tissue where the lump had been and no further signs in her blood. Thank you to all who became involved and helped this dear girl, and Thank You to Raphael.
