A Green Life

green leaf
Are you Green yet? Have you changed your ways and adjusted your lifestyle to fit the new “green living” standards? It seems the “green message” is reaching the deep ends of our planet and people are really beginning to pay attention and find it true.
What exactly does it mean to live green? Some opt to a green life because of ethics and beliefs, and because every little bit counts, others just to follow the wave of trend. I think it’s interesting that the whole world knows about living green and each individual, in their own way, explore this transformational journey. But just how did the entire world hear of this? Did it begin in one place and word traveled in full circle around the world or was it simultaneously in more than one place in the world at once? It’s global concsiousness evolution, the One Mind.

Living Green is a wonderful and fun way to co-exist with everything else that does. There are numerous of well-equipped informational groups/companies/websites/etc (Visit ecomarketstore.com) that offer delicious education for the hungry seeker; and then you see how this personal evolution begins to take place on a massive global scale.. must try it! Living green is so easy, it doesn’t mean that you have to become a treehugger, or have to look different, or eat different; but simply just by eliminating the usage of plastic bags in your home you are doing something positive for the world. And obviously what is good for the world is good for each of us! So, as the holiday season is upon us and it’s all about making wishes and setting new year resolutions, why not propose to yourself to start living green. Join a local meetup to learn more. Reduce, reuse, recycle …and obviously, have fun!

Yogi Bhajan Remembrance Day – October 6

October 6th, 2009, we honor the 5th anniversary of the passing of our beloved teacher, Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji. His soul departed this world during the season of Guru Ram Das, the Lord of Miracles. It is this time of the year that we celebrate the life of our teacher and the birth of Guru Ram Das with sangat, pangat (community meal) and chanting the Shabd Guru. By Guru’s grace, we were granted the gift of a teacher who brought us to the feet of the Guru, to live Sikh Dharma in the experience of our own consciousness, and to be held in the sangat’s embrace.

The Siri Singh Sahib’s life continues to be a magnificent example of fearlessness, tireless service, dedication to the Guru, and commitment to Truth. His legacy of living teachings will reach far into the future and uplift humanity for generations to come. The Siri Singh Sahib’s parting words to the sangat were, “Don’t live with each other. Don’t live at each other. Live for each other.”

May we all be the lighthouses that the Siri Singh Sahib encouraged us to be. May we shine in the light of our souls. May our purity prevail on this earth in service to all living beings.

Wahe Guru ji ka Khalsa! Wahe Guru ji ki Fateh!

In Service,

SS Ravi Kaur Khalsa

Guru Ram Das Birthday Anniversary – October 9

Celebrate birthday of Guru Ram Das, the Lord of Miracles and spiritual guide of Yogi Bhajan. The 11 days leading up to his birthday is a very powerful time for fulfillment of our prayers and meditations – a time of blessing.

Practice:
Beginning September 29, come together each evening to chant Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru for 11 to 31 minutes. On October 9, celebrate with a special Sadhana (daily spiritual practice) in the Amrit Vela (4 – 7 a.m.) for 2.5 hours by reciting Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru. In many communities it is our traditional to have a Gurdwara service on Guru Ram Das’ birthday and bring a ‘wish-and-a-dish’ lungar (communal free kitchen). Yogi Bhajan has described this occasion as a unique time to have our prayers and ‘wishes’ fulfilled.
